My long black rabbit strip jigs are considered an essential lure for Canadian pike and musky. Here is a quote from the article in the In-Fisherman 2008 Musky and Pike guide pictured above:"....brown and black bunny jigs tend to catch about 80 percent of the bigger fish, suggesting that pike are looking for leechs and the natural colors work best-a characteristic we expect to find in wary fish."These styles of rabbit strip jigs are tied on a weedless Bass head.They are eight inchs or more in length.The hook is a Eagle Claw 5/0 HEAVY wire.The head is powder-painted and baked for a full hour.I have also powder-coated the shank of the hook to prevent any rust developement.This jig is much more durable(think leather)than soft plastic pike and musky jigs,and you will pay less than half the price of most musky baits.
